1ST CENTURY ROMAN CHARIOT

I would like to say that I went back in time to buy this Chariot off a Roman but sadly can't. So in the end I found a nice picture and scaled it up to build this actual size Roman chariot.

I decided to build this chariot to hire out for Weddings and Matric dances. I found a nice picture of an original chariot and scaled it up to as close to what the original would be.

I managed to get 2 Bond Mini Car axle stubs and made up the wheels to fit these stubs.

The rectangular tubing was 'notched' and welded to get the raduis of the bottom and top profiles. I prefer doing it this way then having it stretched rolled.
picture
I welded on an upper hand rail.

I managed to get the balance right. Here I am holding the chariot up with one finger. The position of the people standing in the chariot would be point loaded to directly above the axle.

A bit of primer.

A bit more primer.

Some Roman Red. Floor made from Jarra wood.

Takes 2 passengers pulled by 2 people.

All finished for now may add some beading around the edges.'Good for 80mph with the right horse'. Rubber on the steel tyres have since been fitted.
